BC Community Football Games of the Week

VMFL

All VMFL games listed will take place on Sunday, October 14.

Pee Wee: Coquitlam Wildcats vs North Surrey Hawks

The Pee Wee division holds a couple of major games this coming weekend which will surely give the fans a taste of post-season action to come. The first featured Pee Wee division match-up sees the North Surrey Hawks (6-0), co-leaders of the Pee Wee division, put their six-game win streak on the line against the Coquitlam Wildcats (5-1), whose only loss on the year came in Week 1 at the hands of the now-undefeated Westside Warriors.

Game time is 1:30 pm at Bear Creek Park in Surrey.

Pee Wee: Westside Warriors vs Cloverdale Bobcats

To add further fuel to the fire in the Pee Wee division, the Warriors (6-0), also having a six-game win streak on the line this year, take on a top-ranking team when they travel to Cloverdale to battle the Bobcats (5-1). Cloverdale suffered a loss two weeks ago during a night game against the North Surrey Hawks.

Game time is 11:45 am at Cloverdale Athletic Park in Surrey.

These two games will have a big impact on the standings and with the playoffs just four weeks away the teams know they have to bring their “A” game now.

Junior Bantam: Royal City Hyacks vs Coquitlam Raiders

The Junior Bantam division currently sees Coquitlam teams dominating the top spots with the Raiders and Vikings both undefeated at 6-0. However, the Royal City Hyacks look to disrupt things this Sunday when they visit the Raiders and bring their own undefeated record at 5-0-1 to town.

The Hyacks look to be one of the few teams that can maybe upset the balance in the Junior Bantam division. With the exception of their one tie game, the Hyacks have controlled their opponents for the most part this season. On Sunday, the Raiders hope their league-best defense keeps the Hyacks at bay.

Game time is 12:30 pm at Kevin Chin Field in Coquitlam.

Bantam: Chilliwack vs Abbotsford

What happens when the league’s top offense goes up against the league’s stingiest defense? That question will be answered this Friday, October 12 at Townsend Park in Chilliwack.

The hosts from Chilliwack bring a perfect 5-0 record into Friday night’s clash having out-scored posted 134 points on offense and allowing a league-low 15 points on defense through five outings. The only team that has had more success on the offensive side are their opponents from Abbotsford (4-1), who have posted 160 points on offense while allowing just 32 points against.

Abbotsford comes into the game as winners of four in a row since dropping their first game of the season back on September 1 to Chilliwack. That game saw Chilliwack walk away with a 12-2 victory which suggests even though this game will pit two of the best offenses in the league up against one another it may be a defensive struggle that we’re in for.

Kickoff is 7 pm.

The West Kelowna Sundevils (1-4) will look to book their spot in the Atom division playoffs with a win over the currently second-seeded Vernon Blue Bombers (3-2).

The Sundevils are coming off a bye week while the Blue Bombers dropped a close 22-20 decision to the Salmon Arm Mustangs last Sunday.
Kickoff is at 9 am at Grahame Park.

Atom: Kamloops Broncos vs Salmon Arm Mustangs

The Kamloops Broncos (1-5) need some help from the out-of-town scoreboard and to take care of business in their tilt against the Salmon Arm Mustangs (2-2-1) on Sunday if they hope to squeak into the final playoff spot in the Atom division.

The Broncos, who were shut out last Sunday in a 32-0 loss to the Kelowna Lions, have just one victory this season but that came in a forfeit.
The Salmon Arm Mustangs beat the Vernon Blue Bombers 22-20 last week.
