An official tie-in comic to the hit platform fighter game MultiVersus has the potential to settle who is animation's biggest badass once-and-for-all: Batman or Shaggy from Scooby-Doo. The official release for MultiVersus has been a fairly decent success for Warner Bros. following a lengthy hiatus. Now, the game is turning to comics to expand its lore with an official tie-in in partnership with DC Comics.

As revealed in DC's September solicitations, DC Comics and MultiVersus are creating an official comic-book collaboration that will give fans of the game a glimpse into the story's grand multiversal lore. Written by Bryan Q. Miller with art by Jon Sommariva, MultiVersus: Collision Detected will follow Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman as they investigate "strange dreams they've had about 'the rabbit,' 'the star child' and 'the witch.'"

This highly anticipated crossover between DC and other Warner Brothers properties comes hot on the heels of another major crossover series earlier in the 2020s. Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point was a major success for the publisher, as it blended DC's most popular hero with the world of Fortnite. The initial comic received a sequel not too long after. However, while the crossover with the battle royale game proved to be a hit with fans, MultiVersus' turn to comics could prove to be even greater with its crossover potential.

Published in 2021, Batman/Fortnite: Zero Point by Christos Gage, Donald Mustard, and Reilly Brown is available now, both digitally and in collected editions, from DC Comics.

The cover art for MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 by Dan Mora, as well as the variants by Mikel Janín and Riley Rossmo, teases a multiversal crossover of epic proportions. Iconic characters from franchises like Adventure Time, Steven Universe, Tom & Jerry and even Scooby-Doo have been teased to assist the heroes in this massive event. Plus, with a huge roster in the game itself featuring other heroes and villains, such as the Iron Giant, Jason Voorhees and Agent Smith from The Matrix, this starting line-up of characters is clearly just the beginning; the comic has the potential to feature more familiar faces.

What's exciting about this teased crossover featuring MultiVersus' base roster is that Shaggy Rogers from the Scooby-Doo franchise will be involved. Since the game's announcement, Shaggy and Batman have constantly been shown in advertising as the ultimate duo. However, despite the two potentially making a good pair, Shaggy could prove to not just be cooler than Batman, but also more powerful. He canonically has his powers from the "Ultra-Instinct Shaggy" memes in the MultiVersus universe, meaning he can summon great power to set him on equal footing with some of the game's strongest characters.

This means Shaggy could potentially outshine Batman on his own turf, making him not just one of the story's most powerful characters, but one of DC's strongest as well. Fans of the game, DC's heroes, and other popular WB characters can get their copies of MultiVersus: Collision Detected #1 this fall. This official tie-in could set the game up as one of the most epic crossovers in history with its major cast. However, pitting Batman and Shaggy against each other to prove who's the most badass hero could become MultiVersus' most defining moment.
